Must-Have Tips For Selling Your Northwest Arkansas Home This Winter

The time is now. Whether it’s landing a new job or finding a new perfect home, you’re ready to sell your house and move on to the next chapter in your life. And with the cool winter temperatures come surprising perks, such as lower inventory for buyers to choose from. Less competition means your home will have a chance to shine during these dimmer months. Use the wintertime to your advantage with these must-have tips from Southern Tradition Real Estate.

Let The Sun Shine In!

With fewer hours of sunshine and darker days, it’s more important than ever to have adequate lighting – both inside and outside of your home. For the interior, be sure to draw back the curtains, pull the shades all the way up – not just turn them open, replace all your lightbulbs with high-wattage bulbs, and be sure to clean the inside and outside of all your windows so that they sparkle. The cleaner the window, the more light that can enter. For the exterior, consider installing lights to illuminate pathways and other parts of your landscaping. As with all parts of a home up for sale, the brighter, the better!

Spruce Up Your Curb Appeal

Winter landscapes have a tendency to look a little drab – trees and plants lose their foliage and flowers, leaves and other debris fill up the brown yard. It can start to look a little bleak and lifeless. But if staged the right way, your colorless landscape can be brought to life and given some definition. First, be sure to keep all your walkways, driveways, and lawn free from leaves and snow. By doing this, you help define the outdoor space and it helps make the property looking well maintained. Add fresh mulch to your garden beds and elsewhere – try a deep chocolate brown or even a welcoming red to help liven up the area. When listing photos, be sure to include many from how your home looks in the spring and summer so buyers can see it at its best.

Create A Welcoming, Cozy Interior

If the air outside is frigid, home buyers want to come inside where it’s warmer, but not too warm. Try keeping the thermostat at 67 degrees, which should feel warm enough to visitors but not oppressive. If you have a fireplace and can safely have a fire burning, do so! If it’s near the holidays, be sure to remove holiday decorations before taking any photos. And clean your house more than usual – including deep cleans. People spend more time inside during the winter, so dirt and grime accumulate more quickly. Make sure your appliances and fixtures are sparkling and the air is fresh with recent cleaning. In addition, double check that your winter systems, such as your furnace and plumbing, are working properly.
